6. Vishwanath Pratap Singh [1989-90]:

*   Chief Minister → Prime Minister (3rd person [to do so in this manner]).
*   Union Minister → Prime Minister (5th person [to do so in this manner]).
*   Established the 'Jan Morcha' organization against corruption.
*   Initiated the implementation of the Mandal Commission recommendations.
*   Established the Inter-State Council in 1990.
*   Formed the Dinesh Goswami Committee for electoral reforms.
*   Lost power after the BJP withdrew support in the "Ram Janmabhoomi-Ayodhya" dispute.
*   The first Prime Minister to lose power through a vote of no confidence.
*   Led the National Front government.
*   The National SC, ST Commission was established.
*    Resigned to Rajiv Gandhi's Government for opposing Bofors,Fairfax scams.

7. Chandra Shekhar [1990-91]:

*   Became Prime Minister without holding any prior positions at the central level.
*   Known as the "Young Turk" in Indian politics.
*   Known as "Pound's Baba".
*   Pioneer of political *padayatras* (foot marches) in India.

8. P.V. Narasimha Rao [1991-96]:

*   The first Telugu and first South Indian Prime Minister.
*   Became Prime Minister without being a member of either house of Parliament (1st person [to do so]).
*   Later elected to the Lok Sabha from Nandyal.
*   Kept a minority government in power for a full term.
*   Economic reforms of India were introduced during his tenure.
*   Introduced the "Look East Policy". [Encouraging Western countries and developed nations to cooperate in the development of Eastern countries].
