National Judicial Council

> Based on Law commission report 195 NJC
 bill was introduced in parliament.
> Introduced as 98th constitutional amendment bill, in 2006,
some amendments were done to this bill in 2008.

This council is being created.
> Judges Enquiry Act-1968 based NJC
Will be established.
> CJI acts as the chairman for NJC.
> S.C's Two senior judges are the members.
H.C CJs Two are as the members.

>Opportunity to appoint retired judges.
In it's formation CJI will play an important role.
> SC Judges and other H.C-CJ's.

Right to Information Act

> To promote accountability, transparency, and responsible practices in the administration.
In 2005, the Parliament passed the Right to Information Act.
> The Right to information act was introduced in the place of Freedom of information act
2002.
> Replacing the Official Secrets Act, 1923
this act was brought.
> In 1996, Justice P. B. Sawant led P.C.I., In 1997
NIRD study team has formed
Right to Information Act.
> Right to Information Act has many defects
So, the RTI Act was introduced.
> All information related to government and public administration
It is the responsibility of the government officials to provide information to the public, this law states.
> The people should be informed before they even ask for it.
If not possible immediately, it should be done as soon as possible.
> The persons who are seeking the information need not state the reason.
They have to give only their address details. For this
There is no need to state the reason why this information is being sought.

Matters that are not covered by the Act:
- Matters affecting the sovereignty of India,
- Matters related to national defense,
– Defense agreements made with foreign countries,
– Information provided by intelligence agencies.
- Advice given by the Central Government to the President;

- Cabinet decisions related to law and order and security.
Methods of providing information:
- Records, Xerox copies, CDs, photos,
Certified copies, personal inspection, Videos
Documents, devices.
Mechanism:

Consumer Rights Act

> Introduced by Rajiv Gandhi's government in 1986.
> All those who pay money and avail services are consumers,
> Producers & distributors with accountability, responsibility
This law is about the quality of services provided.
> When this law is violated, along with a normal fine
The forum has the power to impose imprisonment.
I. District Forum for cases worth 20,00,000/-,
II. State Forum for cases worth between one lakh and one crore,
III. National Forum for cases worth more than one crore
will conduct the trial.
